Joy of Sports Foundation Announces Appointment of New Executive Director, Jonathan Wright

WASHINGTON, DC (January 27, 2006) - The Joy of Sports Foundation (JSF), a non-profit organization dedicated to inspire at-risk children to grow healthy in body, mind, and spirit by teaching them critical life success skills through sports and education, announces the appointment of its new Executive Director, Mr. Jonathan Wright. Mr. Wright succeeds Andrew Oser, who founded the Joy of Sports Foundation in 1989.

"Jonathan possess the leadership, character, heart, and management skills to guide the Joy of Sports on a great journey," says Anh-Thu Mai, chair of JSF's Board of Directors. "Under Jonathan's direction, we are poised to take the organization to an even higher, more exceptional level while maintaining a positive impact nationally on our children, communities, and future."

Jonathan has worked for Joy of Sports for two and a half years, both as the National and the DC Regional Program Director. In addition, he brings extensive project management, training, and organizational development experience from the corporate sector where he consulted with Fortune 100 clients. He is an active athlete and has coached hundreds of children in numerous communities throughout the US and Canada. He combines his compassion for children and his love for sports with his business management insights to offer high-performance leadership for the organization.

Joy of Sports Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Washington, DC. The mission of the foundation is to inspire at-risk children to grow healthy in body, mind, and spirit by teaching them critical life success skills through sports and education. Utilizing a variety of sport-based educational programs, the Joy of Sports Foundation is currently serving children in the Washington, DC, San Francisco, and San Diego metropolitan areas.

JSF programs have been recognized as model programs by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the US Department of Health and Human Services Head Start Bureau, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the United States Tennis Association. The White House has also recognized JSF as a Point of Light in appreciation of service to at-risk children.
